Barbell Business – How to Deal with Your Biggest Frustrations

This week on BARBELL BUSINESS,  we’re talking about how to deal with frustrating relationships with people you work with, your partner, and yourself. In this episode, we’ll cover:

  • Overcoming the hero complex
  • The difference between a healthy striving for excellence and corrosive perfectionism
  • How we deal with the toxic effects of being frustrated with your body, your achievements and your sense of worth.
  • How you can tackle 2016’s goals with a new, growth-focused mindset.

2015 has been a transitional year for us at Barbell Business. While we are very happy with where we are as the year comes to an end, we’ve also had our share of failures, mistakes, and challenges that kept us up at night. Those frustrations came in many forms.

Sometimes we suppressed that inner critic, other times we broke down and took it out on people who really didn’t deserve it, but most of the time we took it out on ourselves. “You fraud. You failed. You should have worked longer. You should have done it yourself. You should have done more by now. You suck.”

Does this sound familiar? If you don’t deal with your frustrations in a healthy way, they’ll begin to wear away at the things that once brought you pleasure (Netflix & chill. Hot wife. Loyal dog.) They’ll seep into your sleep time, your training time, your “you” time because there’s this nagging feeling that you shouldn’t be doing anything else except building your legacy.

Now those are real #entrepreneurproblems. If this sounds like you, this show will really resonate with you. The good news is, there IS a way to deal with these frustrations as they come along. Learn more by listening to the show. Enjoy & see you in 2016!

  • I can completely relate to what A.J. Roberts was saying about feeling guilt when you are not being that “perfect” person that we think we are supposed to be. I too try to be a role model of fitness as a coach and business owner/entrepreneur and feel guilty every time I have a drink of alcohol or sit down to watch a TV show! I always feel like I should be working to better myself or my business and that there are others out there working harder than I am, even though I put in and live my business 16 hours most days 6-7 days per week! Thanks for all you do for us! Cyril White

    • Thanks for that honest input, Cyril. Being a perfectionist isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, is it? Good luck in your biz! Keep us updated on all the awesome things you do (and all of the Netflix you’re relaxing to hopefully 🙂 )
