The Jerk: The Catch and Recovery – TechniqueWOD

JERK Catch AND Recovery

  • A slow breakdown of the (split) Jerk catch and recovery, covering split stance, the jump, head position, and a brief overview of the power and squat jerk.
  • Common errors and how to avoid them: Splitting too narrow (length and width wise), landing with a straight back leg, hyperextending lower back, jumping feet too high, leaning backwards, and jerking the neck.
  • Cues to think about: Split wide and evenly (length and width wise), bend your back leg pointing your back knee down, pull your chin backwards and push your head through.
